The .IN Registry is launching live on 16th February 2005. Once the real-time registration starts, we will immediately submit this domain name for registration.

It is recommended however, in order to protect your / your customers ‘trade name’, that you register all marks in ALL the TLDs. This would be far cheaper than indulging in expensive legal battles to reclaim your name later

Q. Can multiple people apply for the same name during the pre-registration stage?

Yes. We will accept multiple applications during the pre-application stage. All domain names which have multiple applications, and get successfully registered, will be auctioned off to the highest bidder, and the other parties will be refunded their monies. The auction rules will be announced by the 2nd week of February.

Q. If some of the domain names that I apply for are not registered, how will my customer and I get our refunds?

Your reseller funds, required for registration of these domain names, will be locked in your account and will be either utilized or freed after 16th Feb 2005 (after the registry goes live) depending on whether we get the domain name or not.

If the domain is not registered, our system will automatically credit your advance account with the FULL amount that he/she has paid for such unregistered domain name. All refunds will be credited to your advance account in less than 2 weeks after the registry goes live i.e. after 16th Feb 2005.
